Emerald Ash BorerEmerald Ash Borer (EAB) Update
The Emerald Ash Borer pest is now present in all the counties of
our work area and we are seeing its effects much sooner than
expected.
Please contact us to arrange an inspection of your Ash trees and obtain a cost for an EAB program. We feel that not all Ash trees are good candidates for treatment, so we will work together to help you make an informed decision.
Currently, we recommend a treatment that has been proven to give 2 years control. Since the flying cycle of the EAB finished for the 2009 year, we recommend trees be treated in early spring of 2010 for control through spring 2012.
Not sure if your tree is an Ash tree? Review this Ash Tree Identification Guide.
Please visit the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture's EAB Program page for detailed information and updates on the EAB.
City of Cincinnati EAB PlansThe Forestry Division of the City of Cincinnati and several of the villages in our area do not have money in their budget for treating Ash trees. However, they are not opposed to the homeowner arranging to have city or village trees treated at their own expense. In most cases a permit from the city or village forestry division is required, which we will obtain for you. The City of Cincinnati Forestry Division has informed us that they intend to remove all Ash street trees that are not treated. The removal process will begin in the Eastern neighborhoods first.
